What's a TONGUE DRUM?

INTRODUCING . . . THE TONGUE DRUM!

Also called the 'slit' or 'log' drum, each unit is superbly and masterfully hand-crafted using ancient old-world techniques. The hollow interior produces four individual and separate percussion tones, depending on where the drum is being struck.

It's perfect as a unique conversation-piece in the living room . . . or as a fun practice toy for the kids. It's three times more fun than any practice-pad I've ever played on.

Though these tongue drums may not be exactly ideal for studying the lessons in this 100-lesson course, it may be something you'll enjoy having around the house as entertainment for you and the kids.

These fun and easy to play drums make a nice and unique gift for a child's 1st instrument (sturdy enough to stand or sit on), elementary and pre-school teachers (music class), musicians (a really cool gift), anyone who enjoys music and maybe has never had their own instrument, musical instrument collectors, and most of all folks who play drums of any kind (drummers just love them).

If you dance, tap your foot or fingers along with music or sing then you can play these drums. Wooden drums are one of the worlds oldest known musical instruments and were common in the African, Mayan, Aztec and most primitive cultures. They were used for ceremonies and as signal drums. This drum is a contemporary version of the traditional and famous African Slit Drum, where randomly pitched resonating tongues are amplified by the sound box making warm, rich and unique tones .

They are constructed from solid wood with laminated mahogany bottoms and are protected with a penetrating tung-oil finish for a natural look and feel. The wood and glue (no metal used) construction means nothing to replace or adjust and rounded smooth sanded edges for safe handling. Each drum is individually handcrafted for a unique look and sound and comes with a pair of mallets. The craftsman of these fine drums is in his 15th year of building these wonderful instruments and he'll guarantee your absolute and unconditional satisfaction.

They're perfect for acoustic jam-sessions, too.

NO LONGER AVAILABLE. THEY STOPPED MAKING THEM. SORRY!
